Time magazine has stated Motorola Droid as one of the best gadgets of the year. It is always to have an Android gadget finally get its due and respect from one of the major news sources, but there are bigger things developing in the world of Android tonight, i.e. Motorola Droid have been rooted.

One member of the AllDroid forums decleared, this afternoon that “Droid has been rooted.” As we mentioned in How to Understand Root Terms post, “root” is achieved at a time when a modder figures out an exploit to gain complete access to a device. Handsets are sold with limitations and security measures which stops certain actions – like optimizing functions, taking screenshots, changing the ROM, and many more – that can be achieved with root. It took a few weeks, but as noted modder Cyanogen pointed out earlier today, Droid Does…root.
Now, what does this mean to you, if you are a new Moto Droid user willing to take on the dangerous task of rooting? You are probably in store for some great new features and options. In the coming days, weeks, and months, you will see modders comes up with brand new tricks and hacks to enhance or significantly change what Moto Droid does.
Before you get too excited, you must be aware of The Law of Root (it is not a real law but it must be):
Rooting your phone is risky, can destroy your phone if a mistake is made, and will probably void the warranty. Androinica.com accepts absolutely no responsibility if problems arise from rooting your phone; you root at your own risk.
