Google Labs Launches Listen Podcast App

Google has updated their Android OS podcast application. Listen to include several new features, namely the ability to sync and manage podcast feeds through Google Reader. The previous version of Listen required users to search for feeds each time they switched phones or performed a data wipe, that might be iritating for people who frequently change ROM’s or reset their phone. Version 1.1 can store those podcasts in Google Reader and quickly sync them when necessary.

Take advantage of this brand new feature and subscribe to your favorite tech and sports podcasts. Members of the Android blogosphere come together to speak about major handset announcements, brand new applications, and all things related to Android.

Other new features and fixes include:

* Subscribed feed items are fresh, no longer limited in size, and are available offline (and more quickly).
* Settings has a “Check for new items” interval that periodically fetches new subscription items.
* Play controls in landscape mode now take up less space.
* Add “Play” to context menu.
* Search subscriptions has temporarily been removed.
* “More episodes” screen now includes a “Queue new” button.
* Help screens and splash screen have been combined.
* The item title in the “Now Playing” mini-view is now clickable.
* Share an episode function has temporarily been removed.
* Various minor bug fixes.
* Screen “My listen items” shows queued and most recently subscribed item, with refresh button for subscriptions.
* Subscriptions screen is a list of subscribed feeds instead of the most recent item in the feed.
* Better control of listened state: “Mark all…” on details screen and context menus.
* Subscriptions screen has an “Add a subscription” button since the menu item with this function was regularly overlooked.
* The queue is now ordered by time added (instead of publication time).
* Added voice input button to search bar.
