In a bid to capture the fast growing Android space in India, Olive Telecommunications is all set to launch its own Android handsets in the country. These handsets will use Android 2.2 OS and is expected to hit the markets during the first week of March.
It is believed that the handsets will compete with Samsung Galaxy S and Apple’s iPad. This suggests that the handsets will have larger touch-screen and the size will be something between a smartphone and that of a tablet PC.
Intense Competition In The Android Segment
Notably the Android market in the country has witnessed intense competition of late with a slew of Android phones hitting the market. After Micromax unleashed its first Android phone Andro A60, Intex Mobile revealed its plan to come up with Android handsets. Now with Olive joining the race consumers will get more choice to Android powered smartphones.
It is to be noted that Olive Telecommunications earns the distinction of being the first Indian company to launch a tablet and hence it will be interesting to note the response of the Android handsets among consumers.
