It looks as if fans of Samsung phones will have to wait a little longer for the much anticipated S3 handset, as the company has come out with a Twitter denial in response to reports that the Galaxy S3 was set for an April launch. The report citing
April as the scheduled release date for the S3 handset originally appeared on the ZDNet Korea website, but this has been swiftly quashed by Samsung. The S3 Android handset is one of the most eagerly anticipated of all of the upcoming Samsung phones – and indeed of all upcoming phone releases by any of the major manufacturers – which is leading to considerable speculation concerning the date when it will hit the shops and what customers can expect of it.
Amongst the features rumoured ton be part of the Galaxy S3 handset are a 1.5GHz quad-core Exynos processor, an edge to edge display, of 4.8.
inches and with a definition of 1080p, and both front and rear facing cameras of 2 and 8 megapixels capability respectively. Such is the building enthusiasm amongst both previous fans of Samsung phones and mobile enthusiasts generally that it has even been rumoured that Samsung provided those in attendance at the Consumer Electronics Show with a tantalising glimpse of the Galaxy S3, based on the fact that an unspecified handset which looked like it might be part of the Galaxy line featured in one of Samsung’s promotional films for the event.
The excitement over the Galaxy
S3 is perhaps not entirely surprising given the success of another phone in this line – the S2, which is now regarded as the flagship Samsung phone. Since it was originally released last year, the Galaxy S2 has gone on to sell in excess of 20 million units across the world; raising expectations for the latest development in this range – the S3 – to fever pitch.
