Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus Case/Design

Since Galaxy Tab 10.1, Samsung has been offering some great looking tablets and Tab 7.0 plus is no different. At dimensions standing at 193.65x 122.37 x 9.96mm, Tab 7.0 Plus is surly not the most compact device, but yet it is quite comfortable to be gripped by one hand. The tablet feels sturdy as Samsung has used high quality materials in designing the tablet. The plastic casing makes the tablet light and easily portable. At 0.8 pounds, the tablet is lighter than T-Mobile Springboard and HTC Flyer. It is also slimmer than Springboard and Flyer. The tablet is quite comfortable to grip and Samsung has been successful in giving the tablet an elegant and chic look.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus Screen

Of late Samsung has been using PLS LCD display in its series of Galaxy Tabs and Tab 7.0 Plus is equipped with a 7 inch PLS LCD display which displays pictures 1024×600 pixels. The image quality was quite good. Some may be surprised that instead of AMOLED display found in Galaxy Tab 7.7, the company has gone with PLS LCD display. But we were quite happy to note that PLS LCD display was able to produce natural colors which did not appear over saturated. Youtube videos and HD movies appeared to be very bright, sharp and crisp.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus Keyboard

Galaxy Tab 7.0 is equipped with three different keyboard options namely

  • Android keyboard
  • Swype
  • Samsung’s Proprietary Board

Out of the three, we found Samsung’s keyboard to be the best with a neat layout. The keys were nicely spaced making typing a pleasure in both portrait and landscape mode. Users can resize the keyboard as per their need and it also gives users the option to enter text with the help of a digital writing pad.

The interface of the new Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is very much identical to the interface of Galaxy Tab 10.1. 7.0 Plus features Android Honeycomb and Samsung’s TouchWiz UX custom interface. Users get five home screens which users can customize according to their needs. The familiar Android system tray is located at the bottom of the screen. TouchWiz UX brings in some new widgets. Thanks to the dual-core 1.2GHz processor and 1GB RAM, operations in the device are quite fast. There are two models of the tablet. One has an internal memory of 16GB while the other one has 32GB. Our unit had 16GB of inbuilt memory. The memory can be increased to 32GB with the help of microSD card.
