The Liquid A1 is the first Android phone made by Acer in 2009. It launched with Android 1.6 but now an update is available to bring it out of the Dark Ages and into the Light. The update is the usual OTA variety, so if you’re one of the folks out there with the device, hopefully you’ll be receiving the notification soon enough.

Acer’s Android-based A1 Liquid now shipping in the UK
December 9th, 2009Finally, the first Android-based Acer smartphones, named “Liquid A1″, went up for sale in the United Kingdom as of yesterday. We already knew about retailer Clove taking orders for the Acer Liquid A1 since mid-November. But there’s also another retailer selling this phone too.

Acer Liquid A1 Android phone to reach UK in November
November 19th, 2009Back on the first week of this month, we talked about a new Android phone named Acer Liquid A1, which was believed to have the same Snapdragon processor as the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10. But over at the::unwired, Arne Hess – who played with one – put together a “preview” review of the Acer Liquid confirming the processor, and concluding that it was underclocked.

Acer Liquid Coming to France in December, Android 2.0 Later
November 3rd, 2009French tech site GPS&Co have recently uploaded a hands-on video of Acer’s first Android powered handset, the Acer Liquid.
The Acer Liquid Android phone will include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz chipset, and will launch with the Android 1.6 Donut update (according to Acer the handset will receive the 2.0 update at a later date) included.
