Available for Apple’s iPhone since 2008, Google Earth is now finally available for Android, too – although you need to have an Android 2.1 device (like the Nexus One) to use it.
The Android version of Google Earth is the fastest mobile version yet and comes with Roads layer, a feature that you might know from the desktop version (it provides “road labels drawn on top of the satellite imagery”).
Leveraging on the integrated voice recognition capability of Android 2.1, Google Earth for Android also features a “pocket globe that responds to your every command,” so every time you want to search for something, you can do it by voice only.

Rogers will be first to offer an Android 2.1 device when it becomes the exclusive Canadian carrier of the Acer Liquid e. Already the first and most prevalent player of Android phones in Canada, Rogers will add to its stable this spring when it offers the new version of Acer’s Liquid Android phone.

The Spica will get a major boost sometime between April and June, moving from Android 1.5 to 2.1.

Unwired View reports the update has been confirmed by Samsung in Poland, but no news on whether or not the Galaxy i7500 will get the same treatment.

Today, Samsung has unveiled its first Android 2.1 phone, the Samsung SHW-M100S.
Unfortunately, it looks like the M100S will be available only in South Korea (starting March, via SK Telecom).
The Samsung M100S features a 3.7 inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display, an 800MHz processor, Wi-Fi, GPS, DivX support, T-DMB, 3.5mm headset jack, social networking services, 5MP camera with 720p video recording, and the latest version of TouchWiz UI.

The price of Samsung M100S is not known.

Back on December we had some pictures of the Motorola Sholes (XT701) running on the newest version of Android (2.1) heading for China Unicom. This time Motorola have confirmed the arrival to the Korean market of what appears to be the same handset but using Android 2.0 instead.

So, almost a week after the release of the “superphone” from Google (the Nexus One), the Android 2.1 SDK is also outed. Now that this official release is finally here, there are new API changes as well as bug fixes, together with a few other goodies

Canadian carrier Rogers have confirmed that they will offer the new Android 2.1 update to their HTC Magic customers. The new Android 2.1 update will be sent out to customers by mid 2010 and will also include the HTC Sense Android user interface.

Not that there’s any doubt what the Nexus One looks like, but there’s a nice fat gallery of the phone over at Engadget, and it’s very much running on T-Mobile, and it’s very much running Android 2.1. New appears to be a grid icon at the bottom of the home screen, which likely is just new UI candy for the drawer. Engadget also notes a quick-start link that points to a currently dead page at google.com/phone/support.

Recently, Sprint Hero users received good news about a maintenance release update from the carrier, as you might remember. But unfortunately, no update to Android 2.0. Well, do not loose hope just yet, it would appear that there’s something better cooking up.
