Shopper, Google’s barcode scanning, cover recognizing, voice searching application has gotten an update over the weekend. If you don’t know, Shopper can recognize book and other media just by “scanning” the cover art. It can also find items by scanning their barcode or you can search for them by just speaking. But enough about what it does, what did the update do?

Trillian

In case you haven’t heard, Cerulean Studios has an open beta available for their Trillian multi-IM client. Even in its beta stages, Trillian for Android is getting positive marks from all around. Callpod, makers of the security and encryption application Keeper, have announced an update to their mobile application to accommodate the latest Android smartphones, including the Motorola Droid X and the HTC Incredible. Keeper safely stores and encrypts sensitive data such as passwords, financial, business and personal information, and is available for numerous other platforms, including iOS, Blackberry, and Windows Mobile.

What’s that? You haven’t heard of OpenFeint? Well you’ll be hearing a lot more about them soon enough. OpenFeint currently has about 35 million iDevice users and it’s been known for a while that they’re going to expand into the Android market “this summer.” Well we’ve just received a tip from someone close to the project saying that OpenFeint for Android should be launching some time in September. Sorry we can’t nail down something more specific, but it’s a lot better than “summer.”

We all know that Hulu doesn’t like mobile phones. That’s where BitBop comes in. BitBop is similar to Hulu, except it actually works on Android devices. The app lets you watch TV Shows, and eventually movies, over WiFi or a mobile data connection. Even better, BitBop automatically detects the speed of your connection, and optimizes the video quality to fit your connection speed. The app, which is still in beta, allows you to stop a TV Show in the middle of viewing it, exit the app, and when you return, it kicks off right where you left off. Video after the break.
