It’s sad, but true. You can look all you want, but the only chance you have at buying a new G1 is the hope that someone bought a bunch of the phones and is hoping they turn into a collectible. Everyone should take a moment of silence and think about what the first Android powered phone has done for us since it’s release date back in November of 2008.

Everybody who has the T-Mobile G1 can testify that the USB adapter needed for the 3.5mm headphone jack is a bit clunky and annoying. Well it sounds like T-Mobile has taken note of this problem and now has a fix for those who have not yet purchased the G1.

One of the largest complaints we have heard is the lack of the 3.5mm headphone jack on the G1, but this may be a thing of the past. The G1’s are now reportedly shipping with an in line adapter that acts as an extension to he headphone cord itself. This adapter adds length to the cord with a more natural look as if it is not there at all. The adapter even includes a microphone and answer button so users can use the headphones as a headset as well.

Now users will be able to use their favorite headphones when listening to downloaded music from Amazon MP3 or watching videos via YouTube. So far no one has been able to convince T-Mobile or HTC to send them the 3.5mm headphone adapter. Maybe if there is enough demand from customers, T-Mobile will instate a program that will get the adapter to early adopters.

FCC Approves HTC Dream
Good news for Google, T-Mobile, and device manufacturer HTC: the FCC has approved the HTC Dream. It seems likely that a launch may occur around November 10th. According to FCC, the device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules, which means the Dream won’t cause interference.

The FCC also released a diagram but due to a letter from Dalton Chuang, a senior manager at HTC, external photos, internal photos, test setup photos, and the HTC Dream user manual will be kept private. A release early November will put the Dream within reach of the Christmas shopping crowds.

Video of HTC DreamA mysterious video of an HTC device with a slide-out keyboard running Android has surfaced on YouTube. The poster of the video claims that a tipster, “who works for a company that makes part of the phone” has sent the video to him. Perhaps this slide-out keyboard is the real reason why we haven’t seen any on-screen keyboards in the emulator. Video after the break.
