It’s been a few months since Eris owners had any kind of update, so users of the device will be happy to hear that an OTA update is scheduled for July 16th. However before you get all excited you should know that the new update is NOT 2.2.

HTC releases Droid Eris source code
February 3rd, 2010HTC has recently announced that they have released the source code for the Droid Eris. This news comes as a mixed blessing though — for some its great news and for some it will go unnoticed.
Those that will be happy are developers and those who like to customize their Android handsets with custom ROM’s.
That said though, while this move will not affect many people (myself included) it is nice to see HTC being so good about releasing the source code. After all, the hackers and modders may be the minority but I would also say they are a loyal and dedicated minority.

Best Buy Offering Free HTC Droid Eris in Reward Zone

November 8th, 2009Sure, most of the attention is going to the Motorola Droid (and deservedly so, we suppose), but HTC’s little Droid Eris is a worthy phone in its own right — especially at $99. If you’re a widget-fanatic, HTC’s Sense UI on the Eris is really slick, but otherwise we have to say advantage Droid.

November 8th, 2009Sincerely, we like the understated looks of the HTC Droid Eris. Plain and simple isn’t always plain, if you catch our drift. Plus: there are subtle white flecks on the matted-black, soft-touch paint here. Don’t worry, it’s not Edward-the-sparkly-vampire level sparkle. As we said: it’s subtle, we like it.

November 1st, 2009The above document has recently leaked that gives us a hint as to when we will be seeing the HTC DROID Eris appear on Verizon. In fact, it tells us that the device will hit the carrier on November 6th for $99 on a 2-year contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate.

Motorola Droid and HTC Droid Eris Launching on November 6th
October 29th, 2009Boy Genius Report have received confirmation that Verizon’s highly anticipated Motorola Droid and HTC Droid Eris handsets will both launch on the same day.
Citing informed sources, the two upcoming Verizon Android phones are expected to launch on November 6th, with an official announcement expected later today.
