Australia’s Telstra is getting its first pre-paid Android phone in the form of the HTC Wildfire starting August 24th, although it will also be available to customers with standard contracts as well. Pre-paid customers will be able to buy the Wildfire for about $317 US dollars, and will come in either “pure white” and “phantom black”.

HTC, a company world renowned for their innovation on the Android platform, has added the ability to sync up media with the HTC Wildfire. According to a source, there was a telephone conversation with T-mobile, wherein the carrier claimed that they are no longer selling the HTC Wildfire due to issues with the handset. There have been multiple complaints from customers that the device is crashing intermittently, seemingly for no reason in particular.

Froyo. Who wants it? Well, it looks like the HTC Wildfire is raising it’s hand, and it’s been called on to come to the front of the class.
According to a listing for a Chinese launch of HTC devices, the Wildfire will be shipping in that market with Android 2.2 installed. There was, before, little hope for Wildfire owners to receive the update to Froyo.

HTC has released their HTC Sync application for the HTC Wildfire. As usualy this is only for a Windows based PC and the serial number for your device. Once you enter everything you can download the program and start syncing your device.

Good news for the folks down under: the HTC Wildfire will be heading your way next month. The phone will be available through Telstra, and will have everything expected: 3.2″ QVGA screen, 500MHz processor, Android 2.1, 5MP camera and more. While there is no official price or availability date as of right now, keep your eyes on Talk Android, and we’ll make sure you know promptly, with time to spare for shrimp on the barbie. Yesterday, Virgin Mobile announced that it would be offering the HTC Wildfire when it launches although as of yet, they have no pricing details available.
Today, T-Mobile in the UK also announced availability of the HTC Wildfire and have also included pricing for the new smartphone.
