Someone I follow on Twitter claimed that his friend – a manager at a T-Mobile store – was being trained on several phones slated to come to the carrier this year. Among those phones was a little device known as the HTC Desire.

This video has everyone baffled as to what exactly they’re looking at, but we’ve narrowed it down to either the never-before-seen Supersonic, or the similarly equipped Incredible, both from HTC.

BGR just received word from an unnamed source at HTC that states the Desire will be headed to AT&T while the HTC Legend will land on Sprint. They also told them that Google will be looking to sell an AT&T 3G-compatible Nexus One directly through their web store, but the unit for AT&T network will be the Sense UI Desire. But unlike the current Nexus being only available via Google’s phone site, there will also be an option for AT&T customers to pick this puppy up in stores.

One of the biggest differences between the Google Nexus One and the HTC Desire is that the latter comes with HTC Sense, but as predicted the homebrew ROM community has already addressed that. The Desire isn’t even on shelves yet, but already there’s a custom Nexus One ROM – albeit heavily in alpha stage – which adds Sense together with Flash 10.1 to the Google-branded smartphone.

Launched at the same time as the HTC Legend, the HTC Desire is an Android 2.1 handset with HTC’s Sense UI loaded on top and improved social networking support included, but the Desire comes with a much bigger display and packs in a lot more pixels.

Sprint has been bragging about being the first 4G carrier for the longest now. This may be true but they currently has no 4G capable phone to take advantage of this. This may change this coming summer with the release of the HTC Supersonic.

HTC has recently announced that they have released the source code for the Droid Eris. This news comes as a mixed blessing though — for some its great news and for some it will go unnoticed.

Those that will be happy are developers and those who like to customize their Android handsets with custom ROM’s.

That said though, while this move will not affect many people (myself included) it is nice to see HTC being so good about releasing the source code. After all, the hackers and modders may be the minority but I would also say they are a loyal and dedicated minority.

Anyway, if interested in checking out the source, head on over the the HTC Developers page (link below).

We’ve heard about HTC Supersonic before, as one of the few (if not only) Android smartphones supporting WiMAX connectivity. Now, the device gets pictured live in the images below, released by a source claiming that the device sports a 4.3 inch display.

The above-mentioned screen might be the exact same one on HTC HD2 and we learn that there’s also a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU on board, as well as FM radio. There’s a kickstand at the back, as you can see and a bunch of touch sensitive front panel buttons, that are probably less usable than physical ones.

No info about real specs, price or release date, yet…
