Work to put Android onto the Nokia N900 – more commonly found running the company’s own open-source OS, Maemo – has already resulted in a few experimental ROMs, but now the NITDroid project reckons they’ve got something almost stable enough for everyday use. Their latest release adds in voice call functionality, which most people would consider pretty important for their cellphone.

Google Android running on a Nokia N810Incredible, but it can be done: installing Google Android on a Nokia N810 Internet Tablet. Actually, the guide is mostly about running Android on OMAP processors, including the N810 running on an OMAP2 based OMAP2420. It’s not for the faint hearted though: the guide assumes you are familiar with the basics of embedded ARM Linux.

Someone has apparently gotten Android running on a Nokia N95. It’s unclear whether this is natively installed, but it seems to work with Google Maps and you can make calls, but the quality of the video is so bad, that it’s hard to see if it’s a demo or for real. Check the videos after the break. Earlier, Android was demoed on a Nokia 810 Internet Tablet, but that device runs on Linux.
