The guys over at I4U have sniffed out a nice deal today on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Wirefly.com will send you the device – activation fee and shipping waved – for just $79.99 with a two year AT&T contract. The Xperia X10 has a 4-inch screen and an 8.1 megapixel camera. The big downfall with this device is that it runs Android 1.6. So, anybody interested?

The Xperia X10 Pre-Order page is now live! Sony has updated their Sony Style store to begin accepting pre-orders for the device NOW and on August 16th you can snag one yourself. The X10 will be available for only $129.99 after a $70 instant rebate with a fresh 2-year contract. Depending on your phone, rooting can be a daunting task (as an early Incredible owner, I can attest to this). If you own a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, or Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 X10 mini, and have been weary of attempting to root your phone, this may be an incentive for you to try. All you need to do is install the UniversalAndroot apk and click the root button which appears on the screen when you run the application. That’s all there is to it! There is even an unroot button if you decide the newfound power is too much for you to handle. Some of the benefits of rooting include the use of Titanium Backup, as well as free Wifi tethering (which can be found in the Android Market).

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 will in fact be going to AT&T, as it was speculated earlier. It will be available August 15th for $129.99 on contract. The device features an 8.1 megapixel camera, and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor.

Sony Xperia X10

Hey, remember Sony’s new phone, the XPERIA X10? Yea, we thought you forgot. That’s okay, though, because it looks like it’s back in the news with a vengeance. It appears that the X10 has gone through AT&T’s technical acceptance, meaning it is on it’s way. Rumors speculate that it should, at this rate, be available in the coming weeks. While there isn’t an official – or even rumored – price here in the states for it, we can see this little guy coming in at between $149 – $199 after a two year contract.

Rogers, a Canadian wireless provider has let information about the second coming of the Ericsson xperia 10 and Mini Pro slip out again. Twice has Rodgers accidentally let information about these two phones be leaked. Official information about this has yet to be announced, but the mess-ups by Rodgers means it’s probably pretty close.

It’s not just the XPERIA X8 that is giving Sony Ericsson Android shivers this morning; the company has also announced its Android 2.1 upgrade plans for the XPERIA X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro. All three handsets will see an Android 2.1 update in Q3 2010 “in selected markets”, which will also see the X10’s camera boosted with HD video recording capabilities.

Good news if you’re a Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 owner today, with word coming out of xda-developers that the Android handset has finally been rooted. It’s not an ideal solution, at least not yet – it requires SETool, a flashing system that runs on dedicated hardware – but the guys there are hoping that it’s the first step in delivering a software-based system.

While the larger X10 makes its way around the world, the X10 Mini has been patiently waiting on the sidelines. The X10 Mini has just received approval by the FCC and could make its way across Europe real soon. The keyboard version is expected to pass soon as well.
